Ads for Motion – an AI-driven workflow, calendar, and scheduling assistant- deluged me, and I eventually caved in because I was curious. And I think it’s pretty great. Here are my thoughts after about three months of using their product, deep at the core of my working practice.
The good:
I want to improve my time blocking, especially when planning for “deep work.” Motion has been surprisingly helpful in this respect—it seems uniquely set up to help you plan for tasks of varying complexity or required time.
Reorganisation in real time: I like Motion’s ability to reorganise tasks seamlessly. If plans change or something urgent arises, Motion elegantly reschedules everything. It’s fun to watch it work in real-time (like an invisible assistant!).
Keeping it real: Motion’s lack of unnecessary features keeps it simple and user-friendly. It focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well, enhancing the user experience without overcomplicating it.
Calendy-style scheduler: Like Calendy, Hubspot, and a number of other apps, Motion has it’s own booking and scheduling calendar. It’s solid, largely because of the next feature – the merging of calendars.
Synching multiple calendars: Like many marketing agencies, at Europa Creative Partners, we are embedded in our customers’ systems with customer-specific email addresses and calendars. Motion integrates them all, including my personal Apple calendar, Google and Microsoft mail and calendar products. Works nicely with the scheduling part of Motion.
Observations:
Collaboration capabilities: I’m only using it as a solo instance. I’m not using collaboration capabilities or sharing with my team, so I’m unsure how it rates as a workflow management product.
Speaking of scheduling, if you’d like to schedule some time to talk about sustained revenue growth, you can do so with me here.
